Alysa Liu's Father Accuses China of Cross-Border Surveillance Over Xinjiang Stance

Arthur Liu, father of Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu, has publicly denounced the Chinese government, alleging that he and his daughter have become targets of surveillance. The accusation stems from Alysa Liu's past social media posts concerning forced labor in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Speaking at a press conference in Washington on the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown, Arthur Liu, who himself participated in the pro-democracy movement before fleeing to the United States, joined members of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. He shared that Chinese authorities had attempted to obtain personal information, including passport details, from him and his daughter.

The FBI has reportedly been alerted to these surveillance activities. Arthur Liu revealed that the FBI had warned him about Chinese spies attempting to install GPS tracking devices on his vehicle within the United States. During the conference, he solemnly called for remembrance of the thousands killed, injured, and imprisoned during the Tiananmen Square massacre.
