Ambassador Kang: Seoul, Washington Agree on Stable Management of Coupang Issue

South Korean Ambassador to the U.S. Kang Kyung-wha has stressed that both Seoul and Washington share an understanding to manage the "Coupang issue" stably, ensuring it does not become a burden on bilateral relations. Speaking at a press conference with Korean reporters in Washington D.C. on July 8, Ambassador Kang stated that the embassy is continuously consulting with U.S. officials to clearly and consistently explain South Korea's stance.

This statement comes in the wake of a report by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, which accused the South Korean government of discriminatory practices against the American e-commerce company Coupang. Ambassador Kang's remarks suggest that while political discussions may occur, the executive branches of both governments are aligned on preventing the Coupang situation from hindering cooperation.
