Ana Francisca Vega begins new MVS radio cycle, vows to defend free speech

Ana Francisca Vega launched her new program at MVS Noticias on August 10, stepping into the slot vacated by Luis Cárdenas, who ended a 16-year tenure with the company. Vega used her inaugural broadcast to outline the direction of her new space and firmly state her stance on information and freedom of expression.

Taking the microphone at 7:00 AM, Vega thanked listeners and social media followers. "I arrive in this space to add, to build, to continue a history of journalistic rigor. Recognizing also each of the voices that have preceded me," she stated during her introduction.

Vega declared that from the outset, freedom of expression and editorial independence would be paramount and not subject to debate. "They do not depend on moments or junctures or people or parties; they are the pillar upon which this microphone is sustained and sustains itself. My own work, and that of the entire team that makes this space possible," she added.

She further explained her commitment to focusing on information and the respectful contrast of ideas. Vega highlighted the importance of creating platforms where individuals with differing opinions can engage, stressing that fostering dialogue across diverse positions is a crucial task for Mexico. "This is and will continue to be an open, plural, and critical space. A news program to inform, to understand, and to listen to the enormous diversity that makes up Mexico," she concluded.
