Analyst Denis Avdagić told Večernji list that the Ukraine conflict has been sidelined due to its longer duration compared to the immediate threats to global energy and trade posed by the Hormuz Strait.

The analyst warned that the war in Ukraine risks becoming a "forgotten war" if the world's attention remains fixed on the Israel-Iran crisis.

He emphasized that waiting for U.S. negotiators to resolve the Iran situation before addressing Russian aggression in Ukraine would be a significant waste of time. Avdagić reiterated his long-held view that freezing the front lines is the only realistic solution, stating that anything else is unrealistic and the war is becoming increasingly senseless.

Regarding peace prospects, Avdagić questioned whether a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could yield results. However, he added that the real challenge lies in finding a way for either side to present their actions as a victory, a situation he sees mirrored in the current dynamics with Iran.
