Anambra First Lady Distributes 5,000 Seed Packs for Food Security

Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State governor, continues her commitment to fostering food security and healthier living through her NGO, 'Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo.' In a recent initiative, she distributed 5,000 packs of hybrid, non-GMO seeds to residents across the state, encouraging household gardening and subsistence farming.

As the annual rainy season farming begins, I am delighted to once again support and encourage passionate individuals in Anambra State who desire to own a household garden or embrace subsistence farming through the distribution of 5,000 packs of hybrid non-GMO seeds to passionate and interested individuals.

This distribution is part of a larger effort that has seen 25,000 seed packs shared since the beginning of 2024. Each pack contains a variety of seeds, including corn, green vegetables, cabbage, pepper, tomatoes, and okra, empowering individuals and families to grow their own organic and healthy food.

Dr. Soludo emphasized the importance of embracing home gardening, not just for personal health but as a crucial step towards achieving food sufficiency and providing economic support at the household level. She urged residents, particularly women, to actively participate in this initiative, viewing it as an opportunity to generate surplus produce for both local and international markets.
