Anambra: First Lady’s visit to strengthen collaboration on food security, official says

Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Anambra on Thursday for a programme focused on food security and digital skills.

Law Mefor, the state's commissioner for information and value reorientation, said the visit would strengthen cooperation between Anambra and the federal government in tackling poverty, food insecurity and youth unemployment.

The programme will include the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-east under the Renewed Hope Initiative. Mefor said it would support vulnerable groups, including children, nursing mothers, widows, older people and people living with disabilities.

Tinubu is also expected to commission an Information and Communication Technology Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The centre will equip students with digital skills and complement the state government's work in technology and innovation.

Mefor said communities, market women, youth groups, students and traditional institutions had been mobilized to welcome the First Lady. He said the visit would reflect federal and state efforts to improve livelihoods and create opportunities for vulnerable residents.
