Anambra security outfit dislodges gunmen’s camps, recovers rocket launchers

The Anambra State security outfit, Agunechemba Security Squad, has successfully dismantled suspected gunmen's camps in the Orumba North and Orumba South Local Government Areas. This significant operation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, including two General Purpose Machine Guns and locally made rocket launchers.

The Agunechemba Security Squad has recorded yet another feat in the fight against insecurity following the dislodgement of camps of gunmen in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas and the recovery of a cache of arms, including two General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) and locally made rocket launchers, which were handed over to the Nigerian Army.

The recovered weapons were subsequently handed over to the Nigerian Army. The Director of Operations for Agunechemba, Chief Chinenye Ihenko, represented the Governor’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Kenneth Emeakayi, at the handover ceremony in Awka. Ihenko highlighted this transfer as a demonstration of the strong partnership between the military and the Agunechemba outfit.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the effectiveness of the Agunechemba Security Squad. He reiterated the Nigerian Army's commitment to collaborating with other security agencies, including Agunechemba, to combat crime and criminality within the state. The operation was a result of intelligence gathering and undercover work at security flashpoints in the Anambra South Senatorial District over several days.
