Anambra security outfit kills three gunmen who attacked Soludo’s aide convoy

Anambra State's security outfit, Agunechemba operatives, successfully dismantled a terror group's camp in Aguata Local Government Area, eliminating three gunmen during a night operation. Several other members of the group reportedly fled with gunshot injuries.

The operation, conducted by Agunechemba operatives attached to the FOB Unit, yielded a significant cache of weaponry, including a Rocket-Propelled Grenade and AK-47 rifles. The group's operational white Hilux van, along with various personal items and charms, were also recovered. According to a press statement, these individuals had previously ambushed and attacked the convoy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Chief of Staff, resulting in casualties.

Last night, (23/06/2026) the Agunechemba Unit from FOB Aguata in Anambra State neutralised three members of a terror group that has caused considerable turmoil in the state, while several others managed to flee with gunshot injuries.

Intelligence gathering and a subsequent gun duel led the Agunechemba operatives, in partnership with the police, to the criminals' camp. The statement detailed how the gang, which had been masquerading in Federal Government security uniforms, was robbing innocent victims. When confronted, the gang opened fire, but the security forces neutralized three members without sustaining any casualties among their own ranks. The recovered Hilux van was reportedly used for various criminal activities, including kidnapping and armed robbery, across the Anambra South Senatorial District.
