Andhra Pradesh partners with Google to boost AI and cloud infrastructure

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant collaboration with tech giant Google, forming a joint task force to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing networks within the state. This partnership also aims to bolster digital governance projects, according to an official statement released Monday.

The decision emerged from a meeting in Singapore between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Google Asia-Pacific president Karan Bhatia. Their discussions centered on establishing Andhra Pradesh as India's premier hub for AI, data centers, and digital infrastructure. Naidu urged Google to increase its involvement in the state's digital transformation initiatives, seeking Google Cloud's support in utilizing AI technologies to enhance public service delivery and expand Andhra Pradesh's Real-Time Governance ecosystem.

Further collaboration is planned for AI skilling and cloud certification programs. The state is establishing AI and Cloud Computing Centers in universities and engineering colleges. Naidu also invited Google to partner with the Sanjeevani Project, a healthcare initiative designed to provide accessible and efficient medical services through technology.

Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh's advancements in renewable energy and green infrastructure, which he noted would supply sustainable power for data centers and other energy-intensive industries. During his visit to Singapore, Naidu also met with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss cooperation in technology, urban development, semiconductors, quantum technologies, education, trade, and sustainable development. He invited Singapore to consider importing horticulture and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh, particularly those produced via natural farming, and sought support for developing traceability systems for agricultural goods.
