Anniversary: ADC, SDP presidential candidate knock Tinubu over hardship

President Bola Tinubu's administration is facing sharp criticism from opposition parties, accusing it of exacerbating economic hardship, insecurity, and public dissatisfaction. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stated that Nigerians have lost confidence in the current leadership, citing a nationwide survey by Eagle Badger Data Analytics. The party claimed that Tinubu's reported 30 percent approval rating after three years in office signifies a "total failure" and reflects widespread public frustration over worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and declining living standards.

The ADC highlighted survey findings indicating that 47.5 percent of Nigerians disapprove of President Tinubu's performance, while a majority believe their living conditions have worsened since he took office in May 2023. The party pointed to failures in economic management, job creation, and security, noting that soaring inflation and food prices have made daily life increasingly difficult. "Nigerians do not eat statistics. They eat food. They pay rent, school fees and transport fares. On all these measures, life has become significantly harder," the ADC stated.

Roughly seven out of every 10 Nigerians are either dissatisfied, unconvinced, or unwilling to endorse the direction in which the country is being led. That is not a political challenge. That is a national rejection.

Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the 2027 general election, echoed these sentiments. He accused the administration of worsening economic hardship, leaving many families struggling with rising living costs, unemployment, and insecurity. The ADC also linked the worsening insecurity to economic decline, noting that farmers cannot access their farmlands safely and communities continue to suffer attacks from bandits and kidnappers. The party asserted that the administration can no longer blame previous governments, as responsibility now rests solely with the current leadership.
