Announcements: Meetings, field trips, and award recipients

Several organizations and institutions have announced upcoming events, recent activities, and award recipients.

Descafe is scheduled to convene a regular meeting on August 26th at the Rachel Carson Hall of the Environmental Foundation in Jung-gu, Seoul. The session will focus on the theme 'The Lives and Deaths of People in Dongja-dong's Rooftop Rooms.' Dr. Kim Won, a researcher at the Korea Institute of Construction Technology and a photographer of Dongja-dong, is slated to present.

The Gyeonggi Province Job Foundation's Gyeonggi Technology School recently organized a field trip for students enrolled in the 'Renewable Energy Generation Equipment (Solar Power)' course within the Electrical Energy Department. The excursion included visits to the Saemangeum onshore solar power generation facility and its promotional center. Participants received practical training on the components, construction, operation, and maintenance of solar power generation equipment.

The Korea Media Law Society announced on August 21st that Professor Hwang Yong-seok of the Department of Media and Communication at Konkuk University has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Cheolwoo Media Law Award. His paper, 'A Critique of the Judgment Structure for Regulating False and Manipulative Information in the Digital Platform Environment,' was recognized in both the paper and book categories.

The Military Manpower Administration reported on August 21st that its 'Today, We Fulfill Our Duty' campaign received the Grand Prize at the 2026 Korea Public PR Awards, hosted by the Korea Advertising Public Relations Society. The campaign aimed to promote the efforts of young men diligently fulfilling their military service through television and outdoor advertisements, as well as a social media photo-sharing event.

SP Samhwa announced on August 21st that it is the official sponsor of the 2026 International Exchange Exhibition 'Greece, a Great Civilization Forged by the Sea,' which runs until December 6th at the National Incheon Maritime Museum. This exhibition, a collaboration between the National Incheon Maritime Museum and the Greek Ministry of Culture, commemorates the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Greece.

Lastly, the iM Bank Scholarship and Culture Foundation delivered 10 million won in scholarships to the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) on August 21st to support the cultivation of science and technology talent.
