Another major election promise fades away: Why Tisza is not rushing to end state party funding

The Tisza Party and its affiliated foundation are set to receive more than 1.59 billion forints in state funding, according to published figures cited by Magyar Nemzet.

The party foundation, Tartalékok, receives 887,258,069 forints. By comparison, the Fidesz-linked Foundation for a Civic Hungary receives 614,116,470 forints, the Mi Hazánk Foundation receives 92,910,810, the Barankovics István Foundation linked to KDNP receives 3,009,199, and the Foundation for a New Republic linked to the Democratic Coalition receives 17,905,452.

The article says Tisza's total includes both the funding awarded directly to the party and the money allocated to its foundation. That combined amount exceeds 1.59 billion forints.

The figures are presented against a campaign promise by Péter Magyar. In a speech in Gárdony in the summer of 2025, Magyar said his party would end propaganda and parliamentary party subsidies, adding that Tisza operated with zero state support.
