Ansaldo deal close to saving AC Boilers plant and 120 jobs, minister Urso says in Gioia del Colle

The future of 120 workers at AC Boilers in Gioia del Colle has brightened after Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said Ansaldo Energia was close to signing the agreement to buy the plant.

Urso made the announcement during a meeting organized by Gioia del Colle Mayor Giovanni Mastrangelo, alongside European Parliament member Michele Picaro. The purchase had first been announced in April, after a crisis meeting convened by Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

The final signature would complete Ansaldo's acquisition of the site in the province of Bari. The company, whose core business is energy and high technology, has announced an industrial program valued at about 50 million euros.

Picaro said the Italian industrial group would relaunch the Gioia del Colle production site and turn it into an advanced industrial hub focused on innovation and sustainability. The agreement followed an April crisis meeting and ended a period of uncertainty after an earlier deal with other industrial partners failed.
