Anthony Hopkins Releases Classical Album 'Life Is a Dream'

Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, 89, has ventured into the world of classical music with the release of his debut album, 'Life Is a Dream.' The album, released by Decca Classics, features 12 orchestral pieces composed by Hopkins over a span of more than 60 years.

World-renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel led the Philharmonia Orchestra in recording the album. Hopkins drew inspiration for his compositions from his family, his Welsh homeland, and childhood memories. One notable piece, 'Bracken Road' from his 1947 suite, is inspired by the landscape of his childhood home in South Wales.

Hopkins, celebrated for his iconic roles such as Hannibal Lecter in 'The Silence of the Lambs' and his recent Academy Award-winning performance in 'The Father,' has a lifelong passion for music. He began playing the piano at age four and was improvising by six, composing music for local theater productions as a teenager.

"Music was my first love and my first passion," Hopkins stated about the album. "Some of these pieces have been with me for decades, and I still return to them." The album represents a deeply personal artistic expression from the acclaimed actor, showcasing a different facet of his creative talents.
