Anti-Drug Operation in Turkey Nets 221 Suspects Across Six Provinces

A significant anti-narcotics operation, coordinated by the General Directorate of Combating Narcotic Crimes and the Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was launched early this morning across six Turkish provinces. The operation, which focused on dismantling drug trafficking networks, was centered in Kayseri and extended to Ankara, Adana, Nevşehir, Muğla, and Gaziantep.

Involving a substantial force of 2,500 police officers, 632 teams, one helicopter, two drones, and ten narcotic detector dogs, the coordinated raids targeted 263 different addresses. The extensive police presence and resources underscore the scale of the operation aimed at curbing drug-related crime.

During the operation, 221 suspects were apprehended. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in organized drug trafficking, operating from street-level sales points in a hierarchical structure. These individuals are accused of distributing narcotics within neighborhoods and on streets.

Authorities stated that the operation followed a meticulous four-month period of technical surveillance, analysis, and evidence gathering. A statement from the Ministry of Interior emphasized the government's unwavering stance against drug dealers, referred to as "poison merchants," who threaten the future of youth, the peace of families, and the security of society. The statement affirmed that security forces are continuously conducting operations nationwide to combat drug use and trafficking.
