Antonio Valencia Returns to the Pitch as an EA Sports FC 27 Legend

Antonio Valencia is returning to the pitch, this time inside a video game. EA Sports FC 27 will feature the former Manchester United and Ecuador star as a playable character and collectible card in its Hall of FUT legends lineup.

EA Sports announced the group on social media on Sept. 1, ahead of the game’s release on Sept. 25. The company said players could unlock their favorites by completing and rating Gallery sets, earning tokens and exchanging them in the store for special Hall of FUT items.

Valencia joins 20 other remembered players in Ultimate Team, the mode where users build squads from footballers across the franchise and play matches against one another. The lineup also includes Adebayo Akinfenwa, Mario Balotelli, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Giovani dos Santos, Seydou Doumbia, Marouane Fellaini, Gervinho, Hulk, David Luiz, Alexandre Pato, Micah Richards and Theo Walcott, among others.

The Ecuadorian began his career at El Nacional before moving to Villarreal, Recreativo de Huelva and Wigan. He then spent 10 seasons with Manchester United from 2009 to 2019. During that period, he won the FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, two League Cups, two Premier League titles and four Community Shields.

Valencia also won Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for 2011-12 and was twice voted the team’s best player by his teammates. After leaving the club, he returned to Ecuador to play for Liga de Quito, moved to Mexico’s Querétaro and retired there.
