Anugerah Adinata Syariah 2026: Minister Urges Regional Governments to Expand Sharia Economy

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian lauded the Anugerah Adinata Syariah 2026 awards, held in Jakarta, for their role in spurring regional governments to expand sharia-based economic initiatives. He emphasized that sharia economics offers a significant opportunity for economic growth while adhering to pluralistic principles and respecting all religions.

Karnavian pointed out that Indonesia, with the world's largest Muslim population, possesses immense potential for developing the halal industry. He cited data showing that countries like China, Brazil, and Australia are leading in halal certificate issuance, underscoring the untapped potential within Indonesia. He urged regional governments to actively develop sharia-compliant sectors, which can contribute significantly to both regional and national economic progress.

"Sharia economy should be a potential contributor to economic growth, and Indonesia, as I reiterate, with the largest Muslim population in the world, has extraordinary potential," Karnavian stated. The awards themselves honored regional governments in three categories: Pioneer Sharia Economy Schools, Muslim-Friendly Tourism, and Sharia Business Incubation. This initiative, a collaboration between the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance (KNEKS) and CNN Indonesia, aims to recognize and encourage local governments demonstrating tangible commitment and innovation in advancing sharia economy and finance.
