Aoun and UAE president discuss southern Lebanon and expanding economic ties

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the rapidly unfolding security situation in southern Lebanon during a phone call on Monday.

Their conversation also covered conditions in Lebanon and the wider region. Aoun thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s continued attention to Lebanon’s needs across several sectors and for its support in easing the hardships faced by Lebanese people during the country’s difficult circumstances.

Aoun pointed to the recent visit by an Emirati delegation to Lebanon, including meetings with Lebanese officials and business leaders, as evidence of the depth of the ties between the two countries. He also noted the warm reception given to a Lebanese delegation in Abu Dhabi the previous week.

According to Aoun, those exchanges lay the groundwork for greater cooperation in economic, trade and investment fields.
