Aoun tells Trump state will assume responsibility for implementing Israel agreement

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun informed his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump that the Lebanese state will assume responsibility for implementing a recent agreement reached with Israel. Aoun conveyed this commitment during a phone call on Saturday, according to his office.

President Aoun expressed hope that the United States would actively help prevent any violations of the deal. He specifically requested U.S. support in ensuring that all commitments are fulfilled, with a particular emphasis on pressuring Israel to withdraw from areas it occupies in southern Lebanon. This withdrawal, Aoun stated, would facilitate the deployment of the Lebanese Army up to the international border.

In response, President Trump indicated that he looked forward to meeting President Aoun in Washington in the near future. The statement from Aoun's office highlighted the U.S. role in mediating and ensuring the implementation of the agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
