APC governors meet in Kebbi, back ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ beyond 2027

First-term governors elected under Nigeria's All Progressives Congress (APC) have publicly declared their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, endorsing the continuation of the 'Renewed Hope Agenda' beyond the 2027 general elections. The declaration was formalized through a communiqué issued after a meeting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, presented the communiqué, emphasizing the governors' collective commitment to patriotism, accountability, and national service. While acknowledging the current "difficult economic realities" and the "brunt" borne by citizens, families, workers, and traders, the governors maintained that the federal government's policies are essential for rectifying "decades of accumulated fiscal, security, and developmental deficits." They believe these reforms are strategically designed to stabilize the economy, restore public finances, attract investment, boost productivity, and strengthen national security.

The communiqué stated, "We declare our total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and for the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027. We make this declaration as a commitment to national recovery, shared prosperity, democratic stability, and the preservation of the Nigerian federation." The governors urged Nigerians to remain united, look beyond temporary hardships, and support the economic transformation agenda, while also calling for expanded social protection initiatives to cushion the impact on vulnerable citizens.

Addressing pressing security challenges, the APC governors expressed deep concern over persistent threats including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and recent attacks on educational institutions. They strongly condemned school abductions and violence that undermine education and public confidence. In response, the governors pledged to intensify school security and community policing, enhance collaboration between state governments and federal security agencies, and work with traditional rulers and local intelligence networks to ensure the swift rescue of victims and the prosecution of perpetrators.
