APC reopens membership registration exercise August 31

Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is set to relaunch its electronic membership registration exercise across the country on August 31, 2026. This initiative is a key preparatory step ahead of the 2027 general elections, aiming to modernize the party's organizational structure.

The exercise will be conducted in all wards nationwide. It requires existing members to validate their current membership status, while simultaneously encouraging new and prospective members to register. The APC emphasized that the process is designed to digitize the party's membership register, thereby ensuring the integrity of membership records and enhancing efficient access to data for strategic planning and management decisions.

Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement urging party stakeholders, supporters, and members, both old and new, to actively participate. He highlighted the goals of the e-registration, stating it is intended to "digitise the Party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the Party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria."

To be eligible for registration, individuals must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). The party aims to leverage this digitized database to foster internal democracy and strengthen its overall commitment to innovation within its operational framework.
