Traders at Ibadan's popular Bode Market are counting their losses after a devastating fire destroyed numerous shops and goods. The inferno, which particularly impacted the market's herbal section, has left many families and business owners facing a painful loss of their livelihoods.

In response to the tragedy, Bimbo Adekanmbi, the governorship candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State, visited the market to assess the damage. He expressed sadness over the destruction and offered words of hope to the affected traders. Adekanmbi donated N2.5 million to provide immediate relief and demonstrate solidarity with those impacted by the fire.

Bode Market is a major trading hub in Ibadan, known for its herbs, animal skins, and other traditional products, serving traders from across Nigeria. This incident follows a similar fire in September 2024 that razed over 40 shops in the Oranyan market's herbal section, destroying millions of naira worth of property and goods.
