Apple App Store Surpasses $1.4 Trillion, Fueled by AI Apps

Apple's App Store ecosystem has achieved a landmark milestone, surpassing $1.4 trillion in total transaction value, a nearly threefold expansion since 2019. This significant growth is largely attributed to the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within apps and the successful implementation of region-specific services.

The surge in the App Store's value is prominently fueled by AI-powered applications. As of 2025, more than 40% of the top 100 apps on the store feature AI capabilities. These AI-integrated apps are demonstrating remarkable revenue growth, outpacing standard apps by an average of four times. From health apps offering personalized recommendations through on-device intelligence to cloud-based productivity tools that automate complex tasks, AI is becoming an integral part of everyday applications.

Developers are leveraging Apple's frameworks, including its Foundation model and on-device large language models within Apple Intelligence, to create sophisticated features that prioritize user privacy and function offline. The evolution of development tools, such as Xcode 26 with its agentic coding features, further streamlines workflows and reduces repetitive tasks, lowering the barrier to entry for creators. Transaction values have seen significant growth across regions, with China doubling its volume and the US and Europe tripling theirs over the past six years. Apple remains committed to nurturing its global developer community, with plans to open new "Apple Developer Centers" and continue supporting developers through its academies worldwide, fostering the next generation of app creators and innovators.
