APRA Re-elects Executive Council in Namibia

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) has reaffirmed its leadership, re-electing Arik Karani of Kenya as President, Professor Michele Mekeme of Cameroon as Vice President, and Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan of Nigeria as Secretary General. The decisions were formalized during the Association's Annual General Meeting held in Swakopmund, Republic of Namibia.

These re-elections occurred on the sidelines of the Effective Communicators Conference, an event that drew notable figures including the Vice President of the Republic of Namibia, Lucia Witbooi; the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Ndaba Gaolathe; Governor of the Erongo Region of Namibia, Hon. Natalia Goagoses; and Namibia's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus.

The General Assembly lauded the outgoing Executive Council for its robust performance over the past two years. Key achievements highlighted include significant strides in bolstering public relations associations across the African continent, both at national and regional levels. The council was also recognized for cultivating strategic partnerships with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministers and other pivotal stakeholders throughout Africa. Furthermore, the establishment of strong governance and operational frameworks was noted as crucial for enhancing the association's overall effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
