Árabe Unido dominate depleted Veraguas United in 3-1 Apertura win

Árabe Unido took control early and beat Veraguas United 3-1 at the Armando Dely Valdés Stadium in the seventh round of Panama’s 2026 Apertura tournament.

The Colon side built its lead within five minutes in the first half. Armando Cooper opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and Miguel Muñoz made it 2-0 five minutes later. Veraguas United’s task had already become harder in the 27th minute, when Juan Cifuentes was sent off.

Despite playing with 10 men, Veraguas United responded after halftime. Carlos Hernández scored in the 72nd minute to make it 2-1. The visitors then lost another player when Jean Navarro received a second red card in the 84th minute, leaving them with nine players.

Veraguas United held out until the closing minutes, but Joshua Jiménez settled the match with Árabe Unido’s third goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time. Árabe Unido also had the statistical advantage, with 58 percent possession, seven shots to three, seven corners to two, and 64 attacks to 53. The result gave the Colon club three important points, while Veraguas United will seek a response in the next round.
