Aramburu and Herrera’s Real Sociedad held to goalless draw by Celta

Real Sociedad earned only a point against Celta Vigo, extending an uneven start to the 2026-27 LaLiga season. The teams drew 0-0 at Anoeta on Sept. 3.

Jon Aramburu played from start to finish and produced a strong defensive performance. Sofascore credited the Venezuelan right-back with 12 wins in 19 duels, six recoveries, three successful tackles from six attempts, two interceptions and one clearance.

Yangel Herrera started in midfield but left after 61 minutes. He completed at least 79% of his passes, although none created a shooting chance. Herrera did test Celta goalkeeper Ionuț Andrei Radu once, sending a shot on target in the 30th minute.

The draw followed Real Sociedad’s 2-1 win over Espanyol in the third round. The club lost its opening match 1-0 to Real Betis and then fell 4-1 to Real Madrid, meaning it has collected only one-third of the points available after four games. The team stands 11th, one place above its finish last season, when it won the Copa del Rey.

Real Sociedad will play Elche on Sept. 7 and Atlético Madrid on Sept. 13 before opening its Europa League campaign against Bournemouth on Sept. 17.
