Argentina Allocates Premium Beef Export Quotas for 2026-27 Cycle

Argentina's government has formalized the distribution of its "Cuota Hilton" beef export quota for the 2026-2027 commercial cycle. This traditional tariff-free contingent allows Argentina to export premium beef cuts to the European Union.

The resolution, published in the Official Gazette, outlines the allocation of 29,333.175 tons for the European quota. Additionally, the United Kingdom maintains its own separate contingent of 111 tons for high-quality chilled boneless beef. The current distribution system, approved in late 2025, will remain in effect until June 30, 2030.

During the application period, 88 companies registered their interest in obtaining export licenses. However, the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries rejected several applications for failing to meet specified requirements. Companies in the "Industry" category were disqualified for lacking at least one year of prior export experience. In the "Joint Projects" category, several firms were excluded for penalties or documentation issues, including the absence of commitments from participating producers or proper exporter registration.

A notable aspect of the resolution was the formal recognition of the Lequio Group's associated companies, Black Bamboo Enterprises SAU, Frigorífico Alberdi SA, Meatex SA, and Carnes Pampeanas SA, as a single economic group. This allows them to utilize their allocated tonnage across any of their integrated facilities. The process for this new cycle was open for applications between May 27 and June 10 of this year.
