Argentina issues yellow alerts for wind and storms across six provinces

Argentina's National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued yellow alerts on Saturday, June 27, for strong winds and storms affecting six provinces. The alerts warn of potential weather phenomena capable of causing damage and temporarily disrupting daily activities.

In the coastal areas of Mendoza, San Juan, Santa Cruz, and Tierra del Fuego, strong winds are expected, with speeds ranging from 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and gusts potentially exceeding 90 kilometers per hour. This could lead to reduced visibility. The SMN recommends avoiding travel, securing loose objects like plant pots and chairs, closing and staying away from doors and windows, and exercising caution while driving.

Meanwhile, Formosa and Misiones provinces are under a yellow alert for storms. These areas anticipate varied intensity rainfall, with abundant rain, occasional hail, and strong gusts. Accumulated rainfall could reach between 30 and 60 millimeters, possibly exceeding this amount in some spots. Residents are advised to avoid going out, secure belongings, keep drains clear, and disconnect electrical appliances if water enters their homes. Seeking shelter in buildings or closed vehicles is recommended during severe weather.

The Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) is expected to have stable conditions, with cool mornings and milder afternoons. The temperature in the city will range from a low of 7°C to a high of 16°C, with mostly cloudy skies but no expected rain. The province of Buenos Aires will experience a similar pattern, with a noticeable temperature drop in the morning, ranging from 5°C to 15°C, and morning fog giving way to partly cloudy skies.
