Argentina Launches New Bill of Lading to Track Seed Movements

Argentina's government is set to implement a new "Carta de Porte" (Bill of Lading) system specifically for grains, designed to bolster the traceability of seeds. This initiative will require seed producers, known as "semilleros," to register within the Agricultural Simplified Information System (SISA).

Under the new regulations, these producers will need to declare the surface area of their lots and provide detailed information about the variety, category, and presentation of the seeds they transport. Official sources indicate that this mechanism will be integrated into the existing system for grain movement declarations. When a crop movement is declared, the system will also prompt for the specific seed variety being used, thereby logging this crucial data.
