Argentina modifies educational voucher rules for 2026, easing debt restrictions

Argentina's Ministry of Capital Human has altered the rules for its educational voucher program, impacting the 2026 academic year. Previously, families with two or more overdue school fee payments risked suspension or permanent cancellation of the voucher. However, a new regulation, Resolution 5055/2026, published in the Official Gazette, suspends key articles of the program's general regulations for 2026.

This means that beneficiaries who have outstanding school fees will now continue to receive the voucher without interruption. The benefit, which consists of nine consecutive payments throughout the school year, will be maintained. The ministry stated that the changes are intended to prevent disruptions to students' educational paths.

"Given that the school year is underway, and in order not to affect the educational trajectories of beneficiaries, the Undersecretariat of Educational Policies and Innovation proposes the suspension of the application of the cited articles during 2026," the regulation notes.
