Argentina Receives First F-16 Fighter Jets from Denmark

Argentina has received the first six of 24 F-16 fighter jets acquired from Denmark, with the aircraft currently housed at the Air Material Area in Río Cuarto, Córdoba. These supersonic, single-engine jets, measuring 15 meters in length, are undergoing modernization, inspection, and maintenance processes.

The Argentine Air Force announced that an additional six F-16s are scheduled to arrive in September, arriving earlier than initially planned. This delivery will bring the total number of F-16s in the country to twelve, as part of a larger acquisition aimed at bolstering the nation's air defense capabilities.

To demonstrate the operational readiness and capabilities of the F-16s, a group of American and Argentine instructors conducted flight demonstrations. These included system checks, engine tests, and high-speed runway runs, simulating aborted takeoffs. The pilots then executed full takeoffs, reaching speeds over 1000 km/h, and performed advanced aerial maneuvers such as steep climbs and sharp turns, showcasing the aircraft's agility and power.

Journalists were granted access to the Río Cuarto Air Base facilities, which include hangars, workshops, and specialized areas for aircraft maintenance. The base is active with both commercial flights and military aviation. The F-16s are being integrated into the daily operations and training programs, with pilots undergoing rigorous instruction on the supersonic aircraft.
