Argentina’s cheapest province for rent and groceries is revealed

San Miguel de Tucumán emerged as Argentina’s most affordable city for renting, while Bariloche ranked as the country’s most expensive in the survey.

The average monthly rent for a two-room apartment in San Miguel de Tucumán stood at $597,000, making it 55% cheaper than in Bariloche, where the average reached $1,328,335. Santa Fe ranked next at $694,445, followed by Córdoba at $771,665.

The pattern remained similar for three-room apartments. Bariloche again had the highest average rent, at $1,733,330 per month, followed by Neuquén at $1,653,750. San Miguel de Tucumán remained the cheapest option at $896,250, followed by Santa Fe at $938,890.

The report found that rents for surveyed two-room units in Argentina’s interior rose 44% year on year between May 2025 and May 2026. Three-room units increased 48% over the same period.

Food costs also widened the gap between regions. Río Negro had the most expensive basic food basket, according to Analytica. The monthly basket for a family of two adults and two children reached $931,368 in May 2026.
