Argentina's wines win record 367 medals at Decanter awards

Argentina's wine industry has reached a historic milestone, earning an unprecedented 367 medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the world's largest and most prestigious wine competition. This achievement marks the country's most significant recognition in its winemaking history.

The impressive haul includes 8 Platinum medals, 52 Gold, 179 Silver, and 127 Bronze awards. Most notably, an Argentine Malbec, Rutini Single Vineyard Malbec Gualtallary 2023, secured the "Best in Show" award for the second year running. This top honor, reserved for wines that excel after rigorous evaluation, solidifies the Gualtallary terroir's reputation and Rutini Wines' commitment to quality.

Juan Pablo Murgia, winemaker at Rutini Wines, expressed immense satisfaction, stating that the award validates years of dedicated work and confirms the exceptional quality of Malbec from Gualtallary. The DWWA jury praised the wine for its expression of Gualtallary's "wild nature," noting its freshness and completeness.

Paz Levinson, regional president of DWWA for South America, lauded the performance of Argentine wines, particularly the quality of entry-level Malbecs from the Uco Valley. Mendoza emerged as the leading region, accounting for all eight Platinum medals, three of which went to Gran Enemigo wines for their Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc selections.
