Argentina sets June 30, 2026 deadline for first aguinaldo payment

Argentine registered workers and retirees have until June 30, 2026, to pay the first installment of their Sueldo Anual Complementario (SAC), commonly known as the "aguinaldo" or 13th salary. This payment corresponds to 50% of the highest monthly salary received during the January-June period.

Employers have a grace period of four business days after the June 30 deadline, meaning some workers may receive their bonus as late as July 6. The law, specifically Law 23.041, mandates this payment structure for private sector employees, public administration, and state-owned companies.

The "aguinaldo" is a benefit for registered workers and retirees. Those without formal employment, such as unregistered workers or monotributistas, are excluded. For employees who have worked the full six-month semester, the bonus is calculated based on their highest salary. If an employee has not completed the full semester, the bonus is prorated based on the months worked, using the formula: (employee's salary / 12) * months worked.
