Argentine defender Agustín García Basso arrives to sign for Universidad Católica

Argentine defender Agustín García Basso arrived in Chile on Thursday to finalize his transfer to Universidad Católica, becoming the team's only signing for the current transfer window. "I'm happy to arrive in the country and at the club, grateful for the welcome. I can't say more until I sign," Basso told reporters at Pudahuel Airport.

He added, "Afterwards, I'll answer everything you want, but first I have to pass my medical exams and then sign. I'm very excited to come to this country and this club." The 34-year-old defender will embark on his first stint in Chilean football.

Basso's career began at Boca Juniors, and he played for several Argentine second-division clubs, including Santamarina de Tandil, Douglas Haig, Agropecuario, Estudiantes de Caseros, Sportivo Belgrano, and Quilmes. He also had previous international experience in Ecuador, playing for Deportivo Cuenca and Independiente del Valle.
