Argentine Footballer Lucas Trejo Shares Final Farewell to Family Lost in Venezuela Quakes

Argentine footballer Lucas Trejo has shared an emotional farewell message to his wife and two children, who perished in the double earthquakes that struck Venezuela. "I love you, every day, forever," the player wrote on his Instagram stories, accompanying the post with a photo of the four.

Yanina Maranella, Trejo's wife, and their children Aarón and Ainhoa, were found dead after being missing since two earthquakes hit Venezuela on June 24. They were in a building in the Playa Grande area that collapsed. The epicenter was in Morón, Carabobo state, but La Guaira, where the family lived due to Trejo's work, was one of the most affected areas.

Following the disaster, the footballer took to social media to plead for help in finding his partner and children, who were in a building in Playa Grande when it collapsed. "I don't know anything about my family. Pray for them. I want to believe they weren't there," the Argentine defender had written at the time.

According to family members, Trejo was "sedated" and "very unwell" in the days following the tragedy. "We only spoke to Lucas once these past few days. Lucas could never have his phone because he was pulling out rubble piece by piece and we couldn't talk to him," his sister Karen told Doce TV. At the time of the disaster, Trejo was with his team in Caracas for the first matchday of the Copa Venezuela.
