Argentine media: Iván Morales set to join Independiente

Iván Morales is on the verge of joining Independiente in a move that came together after Argentina’s transfer window had closed. Reports from Argentina describe the Chilean striker as the latest reinforcement for the Avellaneda club.

Journalists Germán García Grova and César Luis Merlo reported that the deal is ready to proceed as a loan with an option to buy. Independiente secured permission to complete the signing outside the normal deadline by requesting an exception from the Argentine Football Association following Kevin Lomónaco’s transfer to Elche.

Some details remain unresolved. The loan could run until December or last 18 months, according to the differing versions cited in the report. The parties must also establish the percentage of the transfer rights that would apply if Independiente makes the move permanent.

The reported price for a definitive transfer has been set at $2 million for the former Colo-Colo player. The deal is considered closed, and the remaining step is the official announcement that would see the player, known as “Tanquecito,” wear Independiente’s shirt.
