Armand Duplantis claims another European Championship gold

Armand Duplantis secured another European Championship gold medal in the pole vault, dominating the event at the championships in Birmingham. The Swedish athlete was the sole competitor to successfully clear the 6.15-meter mark, establishing a new championship record.

Duplantis's performance surpassed the previous record of 6.10 meters. Following his victory, the 26-year-old indicated he would not attempt to break his own world record of 6.31 meters. His father and coach, Greg Duplantis, commented that while Duplantis is not currently in perfect form, his performance was still strong enough to win.

Emmanouil Karalis from Greece earned the silver medal, clearing 6.00 meters. Karalis was the only other competitor to surpass the 6.00-meter height. He attempted 6.20 meters in an effort to challenge Duplantis, a height he had never previously cleared, but failed to make the jump.

Karalis's performance at 6.00 meters secured him the silver medal in a closely contested final against the world's top pole vaulter. He narrowly missed a potentially historic jump at 6.10 meters, where he cleared the bar but touched it with his chest upon landing, causing it to fall.
