Armed assailants kill driver in Panama's Tocumen

A man was fatally shot in broad daylight in the Villa La Siesta community of Tocumen, Panama, on Wednesday. The victim was driving his vehicle, reportedly used for collecting scrap metal, when armed individuals in a black car intercepted him and opened fire.

Despite attempting to escape, the driver could not evade the assailants. His vehicle came to a stop near a residence, and he managed to exit the car, walking a few steps before collapsing and dying. The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Tole Street.

Residents alerted the National Police after hearing the gunshots. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the man had no vital signs. The Directorate of Judicial Investigation and forensic personnel from the Public Ministry were dispatched to the scene to collect evidence and begin the homicide investigation.

Police are canvassing the area and interviewing residents for information. Authorities are also seeking surveillance footage from the street to aid in identifying the suspects. The victim's identity has not been officially released, but family members arrived at the scene later in the afternoon. The Public Ministry's Homicide Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into this latest killing.
