Armed clash in İzmir leaves five injured

A violent armed clash erupted in İzmir's Karşıyaka district, leaving five people injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of Mehmet İhsan Zeyrek Street and 1690 Street in the Alaybey neighborhood around 9 p.m. Local time.

The altercation began as a verbal argument between two groups for reasons yet to be determined. The dispute quickly escalated into a gunfight, prompting concerned residents to alert the authorities. Multiple police units and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Emergency services attended to the injured, who sustained various gunshot wounds. A.T., 52, was shot in the chin, while R.T., 58, suffered a left knee injury. L.M., 49, was hit in the right shoulder, and M.Y., 81, sustained an injury to his right ankle. Another individual, İ.K., 38, also had a leg injury. All were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police investigators processed the scene, collecting 14 shell casings and one live bullet. A parked vehicle was also found to have sustained multiple bullet impacts. Authorities have apprehended two suspects, identified as S.Ö., 41, and an unnamed individual, along with İ.K. after his medical treatment was completed. The suspects were taken to the police station as a broad investigation into the incident commences.
