Armed robbers on horseback stage Wild West-style heist at Panama mini-supermarket

A bizarre and brazen robbery, evoking scenes from the Wild West, has occurred in Antón, Coclé province, Panama, leaving residents alarmed.

Two masked individuals on horseback rode up to a local mini-supermarket. Security camera footage captured the audacious daylight crime, showing one suspect dismounting with a firearm. He proceeded to threaten customers and staff, demanding their valuables and emptying the cash register, while his accomplice waited mounted on the horse, ready for a swift escape.

The robbers, whose identities were concealed by hoods and caps, fled the scene at a gallop. One wore a black sweater, the other a blue t-shirt with orange accents. The National Police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing the suspects, who are currently fugitives.

Authorities are examining the possibility of identifying the horse through its branding mark as part of the ongoing search. This incident adds to a growing wave of concern over insecurity in the Antón district, which has recently seen a curfew imposed following a spate of violence, including the homicides of two women.
