Army intercepts three disassembled canoes procured for terrorist leader in Zamfara

Nigerian troops have intercepted three disassembled canoes destined for a notorious terrorist leader, Shehu Bagewaye, in Zamfara State. The canoes were reportedly acquired from Yauri Local Government Area in Kebbi State and were being transported to Zamfara.

The recovered items are currently in the custody of troops, while efforts are ongoing to track those connected with the attempted movement.

According to a statement from the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the canoes were intended to help Bagewaye's fighters navigate riverine areas, thereby enhancing their mobility for criminal operations against local communities. Troops conducted a covert operation based on credible intelligence and intercepted the canoes. The individuals transporting them fled upon sighting the soldiers.
