Army rescues 10 civilians in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara

Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued 10 civilians during separate operations conducted in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. These operations are part of the broader mandate of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to safeguard communities in the region.

In Sokoto State, troops on patrol in Isa Local Government Area encountered and repelled a terrorist ambush on August 19. The swift response forced the terrorists to flee, allowing for the rescue of five civilians. Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing militants were recovered during the operation.

During the encounter, five civilians were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families.

The following day, August 18, troops in Kebbi State acted on intelligence to conduct a search-and-rescue mission in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area. This operation led to the successful recovery of three kidnapped victims, who were subsequently handed over to local authorities after profiling.

The victims, who had sustained gunshot wounds during their ordeal, were immediately evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

In Zamfara State, also on August 18, troops responded to reported terrorist activities in Tsafe Local Government Area. The rapid deployment of forces compelled the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee. Two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds were rescued and immediately evacuated for medical treatment.

The Theatre Command has commended the troops for their vigilance and prompt actions. It reassured residents of its commitment to intensifying pressure on terrorist elements.
