Army rescues two kidnap victims in Taraba

Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued two kidnapped victims during a fighting patrol in Taraba State's Lau Local Government Area. The operation, conducted early Sunday, was prompted by credible intelligence regarding armed criminals operating in the Lande Jessi general area.

Reports indicated that criminal elements had invaded Tashan Musa and Barkindan Fulani communities, abducting two individuals and stealing food items. Responding swiftly, the troops located and freed Mr. Usman Mohammed and Mr. Usman Harusu, who had reportedly been in captivity for approximately one week.

Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their rapid response and professionalism. General Akaliro emphasized that the operation aligns with the Chief of Army Staff's directive to combat criminal activities and restore peace nationwide.

General Akaliro also reassured residents of the Nigerian Army's commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and solicited continued cooperation through the provision of timely and credible information. The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, and operations to enhance security in the affected communities are ongoing.
