Arrested in Niš, Suspected of Smuggling Drugs to Inmate

Niš police have arrested a 22-year-old woman from the Inđija area on suspicion of smuggling a large quantity of drugs into the Niš Correctional Facility. The arrest occurred after she allegedly delivered the substances to a 43-year-old inmate during a visit.

Authorities suspect the woman smuggled approximately 760 pills classified as psychoactive substances, along with three packages containing about 24 grams of suspected amphetamine. Additionally, she is believed to have brought in roughly seven grams of a mixture composed of crushed psychoactive pills and amphetamine.

Following the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Niš, the suspect was taken into custody for up to 48 hours. She was subsequently brought before the relevant prosecutor with a criminal complaint.

After her hearing, and based on the public prosecutor's proposal, a judge ordered the suspect to be held in pre-trial detention for up to 30 days as the investigation continues.
