Arrested while threatening to kill ex and mother of his daughter: threatened stabbing and arson

A man, identified as Rubén D. M., was arrested after threatening to kill his ex-partner and the mother of his daughter at her home in the Nueva Pompeya neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The incident unfolded on June 25 when the man began sending menacing messages via WhatsApp.

His messages included explicit threats like "Sadist, come out, I didn't come for nothing. If you don't come out, I'll set everything on fire, the problem is with you." These texts were accompanied by a photograph of the property's front and an image of a bottle of ethyl alcohol. While banging on the door and windows, he also shouted, "I'm going to kill you."

The victim, R. M. A., immediately called the emergency number 911. Within minutes, Rubén D. M., aged 43, was apprehended by the City Police. Officers found a bottle of ethyl alcohol, a 30-centimeter kitchen knife, metal knuckle dusters, and a lighter in his possession. He is now facing preventive detention for charges including aggravated minor injuries and coercive threats.

The judge cited the evidence, including the victim's testimony and the police report of finding the suspect agitated and arguing with his ex-partner, as sufficient grounds for the pre-trial detention. The victim provided WhatsApp message screenshots as proof of the threats. She stated that she separated from him in 2023 due to infidelity and recounted a previous incident where he punched her in the face, which she did not report at the time.
