Arson attack destroys forestry vehicles on Traiguén-Los Sauces route

A forestry machine and two trucks were completely destroyed in an arson attack Friday afternoon on the route connecting Traiguén and Los Sauces in Chile's La Araucanía Region.

The vehicles belonged to a contracting company carrying out work in a remote, hilly area of the Coastal Mountain Range. The perpetrators of the attack also stole a separate vehicle used by workers at the site.

Public Security Undersecretary Luis Calderón strongly condemned the incident. "We will never normalize these acts of violence," he stated. Calderón assured that authorities would use evidence from the scene to bolster criminal prosecution and improve security in rural La Araucanía, aiming to provide peace of mind to residents and workers.

The attack highlights ongoing security concerns in the region, where similar incidents have occurred. The government's commitment to addressing these acts of violence and strengthening law enforcement presence is a key focus.
