French tennis player Arthur Gea achieved a career-defining moment, capturing his first ATP title at the Abierto de Los Cabos by defeating Denis Shapovalov in a hard-fought final.

Gea, who arrived in Los Cabos with just three previous ATP tour victories, delivered the best week of his career. His path to the championship included wins over Soon Woo Kwon, Michael Zheng, Francisco Cerúndolo, and Coleman Wong. The 21-year-old's triumph not only secures him a significant prize of $131,430 but also propels him into the Top 100 of the ATP rankings.

On the other side of the net, Denis Shapovalov, the defending champion, conceded the title with a somber demeanor. While acknowledging Gea's bright future, Shapovalov couldn't hide his disappointment at relinquishing the crown he won the previous year. Despite the loss, the Canadian player found solace in his return to competitive form after recovering from a rib fracture and shoulder injury that sidelined him for weeks. "I am very happy to be healthy again. A few weeks ago, I didn't know if I could play this tournament. Being here, playing at a high level, has been very special," Shapovalov stated.
