Ascensión mourns death of El DEBER's first local collaborator

Gabriel Antonio Quiroga Ramos, a respected lawyer and community leader in Ascensión de Guarayos, Bolivia, passed away at the age of 83. Known affectionately as 'don Toto,' he was a multifaceted individual who left a significant mark on the region.

Quiroga Ramos served as a council member and president of the Municipal Council in Ascensión de Guarayos. He also held the distinction of being the first agent for the newspaper El DEBER in the municipality, connecting the publication with the local community. His involvement extended to leadership roles in the cooperative of public services, COSPAS, and as a member of the Committee for the Santa Cruz - Trinidad highway, a crucial infrastructure project initiated in the early 1970s.

Born in Cochabamba, Quiroga Ramos adopted Guarayos as his home in 1972, drawn to the region's spirit. He married Betty Gutiérrez, a local lady, with whom he had six children. His adventurous and artistic nature was evident in his travels and his passion for culture, art, theater, oratory, and leadership.

Colleagues from the newspaper El Horizonte, Alida Arandia and Ernesto Arauz, remembered him as a man of great preparation and wisdom, possessing a noble soul and a generous heart. His diverse contributions underscore his deep commitment to the development and cultural enrichment of Ascensión de Guarayos.
