Asfura again asks US to give 55,000 migrants time to prepare their return after TPS ends

Honduran President Nasry “Tito” Asfura is again asking Washington to give about 55,000 Hondurans time to prepare for their possible return after the United States decided not to extend Temporary Protected Status.

Asfura said his government respects the US decision. He nonetheless urged the United States to allow the migrants affected by the measure enough time to organize their return to Honduras.

The request concerns the eventual return of roughly 55,000 Hondurans whose protection under the TPS program will end. The president did not challenge the decision itself, but pressed for additional time for those facing its consequences.
